All except his mother born in Ixworth. 1901 census...Aged 15, a farm labourer, he was at High Street Ixworth with his parents (father now farm labourer); sisters Alice M, Constance [9], Florence E [6] and Beatrice M [10 months] ;brother Bertie [3]. All the siblings born in Ixworth. 1911 census...Aged 25, a farm labourer, he was still at High Street, Ixworth with his parents; brothers Bertie and Reginald [4]; sisters Florence, Beatrice and Edith [8]. |

He enlisted in Ixworth.
The second battle of Arras was ideally to divert German troops from the Nivelle Offensive further south. The Arras operation achieved a degree of success, advancing further that any time before. The Nivelle Offensive was a very costly affair for the French, leading to demoralising of their troops and bringing about several mutinies. Thomas was the only one killed in his company that day
