James Wilfred SMITH, born 31st January 1905 in Deighton (Northallerton Q1-1905 9D:671), son of Harry and Mary SMITH (née MITCHELL).

1911 census...Aged 6, he was at 7 West Green, Pocklington, Yorkshire, with his father Harry SMITH [30] railway porter born Bishop Wilton; his mother Mary [28] born Hull; sisters Lucy Georgiana [9-7-1903] born Bishop Wilton, and Florence Marjorie [4] born Welbury; boarder John Askwith,[72] widower born Bishop Wilton.

None are identified in the 1939 register.


The circumstances of his death are unknown. The death was registered in Newmarket (Q3-1940 4A:1944)



James Smith is buried in the churchyard extension of St.Peter's, Little Thurlow
