John Salmon was born in Pakenham on 6th June 1877 (3rd qtr 1874 Thingoe 4a:520) son of William and Keziah SALMON (née HARVEY).
Baptised in St Mary's, Pakenham on 8th October 1877. There had been a previous John, born 1874, but sadly died less than a year later.
1881 census...Age recorded as 7, he was at The Street, Pakenham with his father William SALMON [52] domestic gardener born Elmswell; his mother Keziah [35] born Pakenham; brothers William [24], Thomas [20] both born Hawstead, and Arthur [13], all farm labourers, Harry [10], James [9] and David [8 months]; sisters Mary J [14] and Keziah [3]. All the children after Thomas were born in Pakenham. 1891 census...Aged 15, a farm labourer, he was still at The Street, Pakenham with his parents; brother James (farm labourer); sisters Keziah and Florence [7]. His father died in 1897 and mother in 1898. 1901 census...Aged 25, a farm labourer, he was at The Street, Pakenham with his brother James (farm labourer) and sister Florence. 1911 census...Aged 34, a farm labourer, he was at The Street, Pakenham with sister Keziah and her daughters Evelyn [7] born Newmarket and Emily [7 months] born Pakenham; his brother Harry and James (both farm labourer). |
