Jesse Bishop was born in 1896 in Brockley(4th qtr 1896 Thingoe 4a:803) son of Frederick and Mary Ann BISHOP (née EVERETT)

1901 census...Aged 4, he was at Great Green, Brockley with his father Frederick BISHOP [33] farm labourer; his mother Maryann [33]; brothers Fred [13] stockman, Frank [12], Alfred [7] and George [2]. All were born in Brockley.

1911 census...Aged 14, a farm labourer, he was at Three Ashes, Rede with his parents; brothers Alfred (farm labourer) and George William; sisters Lottie May [9] born Brockley and Elizabeth Mary [5] born Rede.

On the pension card his mother was at Three Ashes, Rede.



He enlisted in Saffron Walden
The battalion were just NE of Ypres (roughly at the junction of the N38 and A19) and had 16 killed that day, only three have an identified grave
