Edward Ethelbert Musk was born in Stanningfield (3rd qtr 1897 Thingoe 4a:806), son of William and Caroline MUSK (née STURGEON)

1901 census...Aged 3, he was at Cottage 1, Mill Green, Stanningfield with his father William MUSK [45] licensed hawker; his mother Caroline [42] born Great Barton; sisters Eva May [12] and Florence R [6]; brother Bertie [9]. All except his mother were born in Stanningfield.

1911 census...Aged 13, assisting father, he was at Mill Green Stanningfield with his parents; brother Bertie (farm labourer); sisters Florence and Dorothy [4].

On the pension card his mother was at Mill Green, Stanningfield. His father had died in 1914.





He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He died of malaria in a hospital in Egypt.
After Gallipoli the Herefordshires moved to Egypt where they stayed unil 30th June 1918. Not having Edward's service record it cannot be stated how or when he was attached from the King's Shropshire Light Infantry to the 1st/1st/ Herefordshires, or even in which battalion of the KSLI he served. The KSLI had no battalions in Egypt.
