Hector Musk was born in Stanningfield (1st qtr 1892 Thingoe 4a:756) son of James and Jane MUSK (née HONEYBALL)
1901 census...Aged 9, he was at The Green, Stanningfield with his father James MUSK[51] horseman; his mother Jane [48]; sister Hilda [2]; brothers Arthur G [26] horseman, Harry J [15] yardman, Alfred R [13] and William J [5]. All were born in Stanningfield 1911 census...Aged 18, a farm labourer, he was still at The Green, Stanningfield with his parents; sister Hilda, twin nieces Violet and Lily PAYNE [5] born London and nephew William PAYNE [4] born Stanningfield On the pension card his mother was at The Green, Stanningfield. |
He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. After the Armistice our troops were still needed in many place and Iraq was one such. Between May and October 1920
there were uprisings in Iraq,in which the British had 400 killed and 600 missing, Hector being one such. His Soldier's Effects entry says he died at Ramadi.
The date of death may seem late, but the cut off point for CWGC was 31st August 1921, and 31st December 1947. It is not part of the CWGC charter to be responsible for casualties other than from the two World Wars, although they do in many cases attend to their graves
