"STANNINGFIELD WAR MEMORIALS"

To the eternal memory of the men of STANNINGFIELD who died in the service of their country
Twelve in the Great War of 1914-1918 and four in 1939-1945 and 1 from Afghanistan




The memorial on the green is a stone Latin cross and a tapering two step plinth on a concrete base surrounded by a metal fence.
On the south face is the inscription

IN EVER GRATEFUL MEMORY
OF
THE STANNINGFIELD MEN
WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY
IN THE GREATWAR 1914-1918
names
1939-1945
names
R.I.P.

Below this, on the bottom step of the plinth is the inscription
THIS MEMORIAL REPLACES THE WOODEN CROSS
WHICH WAS ERECTED IN 1920 IN HONOUR OF THE
1914-1918 MEN OF THIS VILLAGE



In the church of St Nicholas are three brass plaques mounted one above the other on a wooden backboard
