Arthur Henry Ling was born in 1901 in Exning (Newmarket Q1-1901 3B:507), son of Harry and Ethel LING (née ISAACSON).
1901 census...Aged 3 months, he was at Oxford Square, Exning, with his father Harry LING [25-8-1877] builder's labourer born Great Thurlow and his mother Ethel [25-8-1878] born Kirtling. 1911 census...Aged 10, he was at Bunting's Path, Burwell with his parents (father now a farm labourer); brothers Albert [9] and Reuben [6] and sister Agnes [3]. All the children were born in Exning. In 1928 he was a builder's labourer and on 17th November 1928 in St. Mary's Swaffham Prior, he married Nettie Elizabeth AMBROSE [born 19th June 1901 in Swaffham Prior]. Their son John was born in 1930 and daughter Marjorie in 1933 for the 1939 register, his parents were at Mandeville, Church Lane, Burwell with his brother George Sidney [3-11-1915], both men were builder's labourers. Without his Army records it is impossible to be sure how he died. possibly he was the Arthur H LING whose death was registered in Q1-1946 in Newton Abbot, Devon.
