George Stanley MOTT was born on 24th November 1913 (Sudbury Q1-1914 4A:1723) son of George and Elsie Mabel MOTT (née MITCHELL) of Thurston

In Q2-1936 he married Janet E FOREMAN, she died in Pakenham later that same year, aged just 20.

In the 1939 Register, George, a widower, a fitter's labourer at sugar factory, was at Manor Farm Cottages with his father George [23-2-1875] a cowman; mother Elsie [12-12-1879] and Irene ARNOLD [14-9-1916]


He was captured at the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese. His PoW card gives his address as Meadow Lane, Thurston. He was moved overland on 27th April 1943 to his final camp. It was late 1945 before the family were informed of his death, having in fact received a re-assuring card from him which arrived some months after his death.



He was originally buried in Sonkrai Cemetery (29/1 Block A Row 3), but moved to Thanbyuzayat in 1946
