"WORLINGTON WAR MEMORIAL"

To the eternal memory of the men of WORLINGTON who died in the service of their country
12 in the Great War of 1914-1919 and 2 in 1939-1945

WORLINGTON war memorial stands on a small green island at the junction of Church Lane, The Street and Freckenham Road, Worlington. It takes the form of a tapering white marble obelisk, ten feet high, on a three stepped 6 feet by 6 feet base all on a concrete square, surrounded by metal railings.
Unveiled on March 4th, 1920 by Major General, The Hon. J.E. Lindsey, it was built by Messrs H.G.Neville & Sons at a cost of £150-1s-0d.
In 1999 the memorial needed conservation work to repair a crack at the top of the memorial. This was carried out, the memorial was cleaned, the names of two men who fell in 1939-1945 were added and the railings were repainted. The War Memorials Trust contributed £250 towards these costs.
It is unusual locally in that it also commemorates those who served in the Great War as well as those who fell

In addition, within All Saints Church are two plaques commemorating the dead of the two World Wars

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
