Albert Whiterod was born in Alpheton (3rd qtr 1889 Sudbury 4a:657) son of William ? and Eliza? WHITEROD(née MASON).There is already a discrepancy, the GRO reoord has him born 3rd qtr 1899 and the 1891 census records him as 1 month old

1891 census...Aged 1 month, he was at Moseling ? Cottages, Long Melford with hsi father William WHITEROD[32] farm labourer born Stanstead; his mother Eliza[28] born Hartest; brothers Frederick [7] born Stanstead and Willie [5] born Melford; sister KIsabel [4] born Stanstead.

1901 census...Aged 11, he was at Streetly Hall Cottages, West Wickham with his parents (mother now recorded as Mary); Brother Fred, Willie and Percy [3] born Alpheton. Albert now recorded as born Alpheton

1911 census...Aged 24, he was in the Suffolk Regiment at Polymedia Camp, Cyprus. His widowed mother (Mary) was at Court Street, Nayland with his brothers Willie and Percy.

Mrs E Court Street, Nayland was the claimant on his pension card


He enlisted in Sudbury. He was wounded in 1915 and his Military Medal was gazetted in August 1917 and the bar was gazetted in February 1918
Dying of his wounds it is impossible to say exactly when or where he was wounded without his service records.

and is named on the memorial at Nayland with Wissington
