Albert Edward Gaught was born in Bardwell (Thingoe Q2-1884 4A:655) son of Wallace Arthur and Emily GAUGHT (née RIDGEON).

1891 census...Aged 6, he was at 3 Spring Road, Bardwell with his father Wallace GAUGHT [32] grocer/woodman, born Sapiston; his mother Emily [33]; brothers Arthur [8] and Harry [3]; sisters Rose [2] and Ada [8 months]. All except his father were born in Bardwell.

1901 census...Aged 16, journeyman butcher, he was at Upstreet, Bardwell with his parents, brothers Arthur (woodman), Harry (journeyman bricklayer), Percy [9] and Cecil [4] both born Bardwell; sister Rose and Ada.

1911 census...Aged 26, a butcher, he was at The Shop, Upstreet, Bardwell with his parents; brothers Arthur (woodman), Frederick Harry (bricklayer) and Alfred Cecil (blacksmith's apprentice); sister Ada.



He enlisted in Ipswich.
Died of his wounds in Alexandria. The extract below from the Bury Free Press is the only indication found as to the circumstances
