Albert Edward FROST was born in Barrow (2nd qtr 1893 Thingoe 4a:779) son of Edward Harry and Ann FROST (née MANNING)

1901 census...Aged 8, he was at Barrow Green, with his father (Edward) Harry FROST [31] farm labourer; his mother Ann [32]; sisters Annie [4] and Elizabeth [2]. All were born in Barrow.

1911 census...Aged 18, domestic under groom, he was in Barrow with his parents; sister Annie Amelia, Elizabeth Emily, Alice [9], Daisy Violet [2] and Olive Jane [ 6 months]; brother Frederick [5]. His mother had lost 2 of her 9 children.

On the pension card his mother was at Burthorpe, Barrow.


He enlisted in Wetherby.

The battalion war diary has not been found, but the 9th West Yorks landed at Suvla bay on the 6th August 1915.
