John Pearson was born in Wickhambrook (4th qtr 1892 Risbridge 4a:683) son of Arthur and Ellen PEARSON(née KING)

1901 census...Aged 9, he was at Denham End with his father Arthur PEARSON [38] farm labpourer; his mother Ellen [36]; sister Agnes [11] and Edith [7]; borthers Ernest [5] and Bertie [2] both born Gazeley. Except Ernest and Bertie, all wewre born in Barrow.

1911 census...Aged 20, a farm labourer, he was at Denham End with his parents; brother Ernest and Bertie; sister Florence [7] born Denham End

Pension claimant, mother Mrs E ORRIS, Barrow Green. His father died in 1915 and mother had married George ORRIS in 1917.


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds
The battalion war dairy has little to say. It was the time of the battle of the Bazentin Ridge and the battalion were at the south end of Caterpillar Wood. However with no service record and John dying of wounds, it is impossible to say exactly when or where he was wounded. 21 Casualty Clearing Station was based at La Neuville at the time, presumably where John died.

and commemorated in Denham(St Mary's) Church
