Born on 11th January 1885 (1st qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:720), at 8 Mill Lane, Bury St.Edmunds, son of James and Bessie BOGGIS (née THAIN), baptised at St.Mary's Bury St.Edmunds on 24th April 1885

1891 census...Aged 6, he was at 43 Eastgate Street, Bury St.edmunds with his father james [42] unemployed brick moulder, born Bradfield; his mother Elizabeth [34] born Bungay; brother Albert E [13] farm labourer; sister Florence M [8] born Risby; brother Percy C [4] and sister Eva A [1] both born Bury St.Edmunds.

1901 census...Aged 16, an errand boy, he was still at 43 Eastgate with his mother, brother Percy Charles a houseboy and sister Eva Annie. His father was in Brickfield Cottages, Hutton, Billericay, lodging with William and Laura CORNISH

1911 census...Aged 26 a shop man, he was boarding at 84 St.John's Street, Bury St.Edmunds with Frank Chaplin BOGGIS [26] fishmonger, his wife Ruth and their son Albert His parents and brother Percy were still at 43 Eastgate, Bury St.Edmunds

His mother died in 1912 and his father in 1918, exactly one week before Robert, His legatees were his siblings, sister Ruth, now Mrs KNIGHTS and Ada now Mrs PASK


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. Death reported as due to wounds, and no Army service record found, it is impossible to say when or when he was injured.
