"Ginger" Born in 1st qtr 1920 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:2253, son of Charles and Rose (née DEACON) of Cannon Street, Bury St.Edmunds. His mother died in 1921 and his father married Elizabeth J PECKHAM in 1922. James married, possibly Elsie P J BENNETT of Belper in 1942

The 2nd Suffolks were in India when the war broke out. They were moved into Burma in 1943 and were active at Imphal. The battalion had 3 men killed on 31st January 1945.

James was origially buried in Akyab War Cemetery 2:E:7, but in the early 1950s the CWGC decided that most of the scattered cemeteries in Burma (now Myammar) were too remote and they could not guarantee to maintain them. The decision was made to move all the graves to three main cemeteries in the south of the country. James and his mates were moved to Taukkyan in June 1952 where he is buried in grave 10:B:2
