Born on 17th January 1892 in Walthamstow, (1st qtr West Ham 4a:336) son of John James and Margaret Dann BRABROOK (née ROBINSON).
Baptised at St Mary's Walthamstow on 28th February 1892

1901 census...Aged 9, he was at 26 Griggs Road, Leyton with his mother, Margaret BRABROOK [42] born London; brothers George [3] and Horace [7 months]; sister Margaret [7]. His brother Frederick [5] at 33 Elliott Street, Ipswich as a visitor, with his father John Brabrook [43] an iron turner, born Bury St.Edmunds, to the family of Fred and Sophie Lambert. All the children were born in Walthamstow

His mother died 24/12/1901

1911 census...Aged 19, he was a shop porter, at 32 The Butts, Bury St.Edmunds with his widower father, an engineer in iron works; brother George [13], sister Margaret [17], brothers Frederick [15] printer/compositorand Horace [10]. All the siblings were born in Walthamstow.

His father died in 1912.

He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds on 7th December 1915, mobilised on 8th February 1916 in the Bedfordshire Regiment #26157. He stated he was 23 years 11 months old, a painter living at 32 Cullum Road, Bury St.Edmunds, having serve 5 years in the 5th Suffolk Territorials. He was 5 feet 8.25 inches tall, chest 33" to 36", weighing 124 lbs, next of kin, his sister Margaret Hills.
He arrived at Etaples on 2nd July 1916 and was attached to the 20th Manchester Regiment on 8th July. Reported missing on 3rd September and presumed dead on or after that date.
The war diary of the 9th North Lancs is very vague, just "in Trenches Ovillers-La Boiselle 1st to 6th /9/16 4 officer casualties and 6OR killed, 51 wounded". It gives nothing for missing. CWGC has 36 killed on 3rd alone, ony 2 with a known grave.
