In 1939, aged 17, a maltings labourer, he was at 5 St. Mary's Place, Bridewell Lane, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Albert CLAXTON [53] a dustman; his mother Beatrice [46] and sister Agnes [19] |
On 15th August 1940 a bombing raid on Portland saw a direct hit on Rodney House at HM Borstal Institution which killed four boys and severely injured several more.
