L-Corpl., No.10691, 2nd Battn, Scottish Rifles, s.of Walter Copeland of Bury St.Edmunds; served with the Expeditionary Force; killed in action 21 Nov.1914

The battalion were in trenches at CHAPIGNY (near Laventie) on 21st November having relieved the 2nd Devons. Only Christopher was killed.
These were not trenches as we know them, being mainly mere scrapes in the ground perhaps augmented by some sand bags for extra cover.
