Born in 1899 (1st qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:873) son of Edward and Eliza CRABBE (or CRABB) (née CODLING or CODLIN)

1901 census...Aged 2, he was at 23 Raingate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Edward CRABBE [33] Iron Moolder's labourer born Cambridge; his mother Eliza [28]; brothers Charles Edward [4] and Richard Henry [3 months]. All except his father born in Bury St.Edmunds

1911 census...Aged 11, he was at 40 Raingate Street with his father (now recorded as born Litteport); his mother; brothers Edward (Chas Edward), Richard and George [7]; sisters Daisy [5] and May [3]

On the pension card his mother was at 5 Raingate Street. and records his death as 12/2/1920 from appendicitis


The pension card records he died, after discharge, from appendicitis on 14 Feb.1920. He died at No.5 Raingate Street, Bury St.Edmunds, having had an opertion for appendicitis but succumbing to a perforation and acute peritonitis.
"Soldier's Personal Effects" has his death on 5/11/1919 after demob. This date is more likely his discharge date.


Alfred Crabbe is buried in Bury St.Edmunds cemetery compartment 33A grave 67
now joined by his parents.
