Born in 1880 (4th qtr Chelsea 1a:325) son of William and Emma Theodore CULLUM (née HARPER). He was baptised at Holy Trinity, Brompton on 21st November 1880, father a butler, family at 4 Grove Place, Kensington His mother died at or about the same time as his birth.

1881 census...Aged 2, he was at 4 Grove Place, Kensington with his grandmother Harriet CULLUM [68] lodging house keeper born Lincoln; uncle Henry CULLUM [31] single, clerk born and aunt Marie [33] hat trimmer born Orpington. His widower father was a butler at 21 Onslow Gardens, Kensington

1891 census...Aged 10, he was at 10 nightinale Road, Hanwell with hsi grandparents Henry and Harriet CULLUM (grandfsather a retired butler) and aunt Maria.

1901 census...Not identified in this census.

He married Henrietta Maud PETTITT [24-2-1885] in 1st qtr 1911 in Bury St.Edmunds. 1911 census...Aged 30, newly married, he was a house steward at Ivy Cottage, Sunninghill, Berkshire. It is not known when the Bury St.Edmunds connection began. He probably got a job as butler in this area.

His widow's address was 38 St Andrews Street South, Bury St.Edmunds. Their son Stanley Charles Percy was born on 18th May 1918.


After the Armistice, there were still very many of our troops deployed across Europe. Italy being one of our Allies had its share.
