1891 census...Aged 4, he was at 17 Raingate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father William CUTTING [46] farm labourer, born Rougham; his mother Isabella [44] born Hawnsey (Horningsea, Cambs?); sisters Sarah Ann [21] born Hawnsey and Mary [1] born Stowupland; brothers Billy 13] shepherd, Jesse [12] and Robert [9];niece Annie [8 months] 1901 census...Aged 14, a wood cutter, he was at 14 Hatter Street with his parents (father now greengrocer and recorded as born in Bury St.Edmunds, mother born in Cambridge); sisters Florence, Mary and Eliza [9]; brother Jacob [6] and nephew Louis Le Grand. All the children now recorded as born in Rougham. 1911 census...Aged 24, he was a Corporal in the 1st Battalion, Suffolk Regiment in Egypt. His parents were at 6 Albert Row, Westgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with their grandson Jacob (16). His mother had borne 12 children but 6 had died. |
He enlisted in Bury St.Ednmunds. His "Solders Personal Effects" entry has him dying at No.84 Field Ambulance. The battalion wee operating somewhere just
south of Ypres around that time
