1901 census...Aged 3, he was at 44 Hill Rise, Richmond with his father Joseph Thomas DICKASON [43] watchmaker/jeweller born Royston;his mother Elizabeth [40] born Litlington; brothers Reginald [7] and Royston [5] both born in Richmond. 1911 census...Aged 13, he was at 24 Cornhill, Bury St.Edmunds with his widowed mother (boarders and private means); brothers Reginald Thomas [17] ironmonger's apprentice and Harold Royston [15] County Council clerk. The pension card puts his mother at 38 Amhurst Park, London N16 |
He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. At the time of his death the Battalion were garrisoning Hill 60, a position heavily contested, at the time we only held the crest. The conditions were foul, the heat and smell of dead bodies, the shortage of water made life extremely difficult.
