[3] born Auchterarder; grandmother Harriet GARDINER [75] born Moneydie, Perthshire. 1911 census...Aged 17 he was at Park Farm, Henham, Wangford with his parents; brother Allan Robertson [9] born Auchterarder; sisters Janet (Daisy) Tran [8] born Auchterarder, Mary Gardiner [5] and Isabella Stewart R [3] both born Newmarket. His father died in 1913. his mother moved to St.Mary's Lode, Bury S.Edmunds hence his link with Bury St.Edmunds |
He enlisted in London when resident in Hatfield. The battalion were in trenches at Neuville St.Vaast.
