Born in 2nd qtr 1925 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:1560, son of Bertie and Olive Rosina FENNER (née ELLISTON). His father died in 1939 and his mother married Charles William BANHAM in 1942. His widowed mother and brother Cecil in the 1939 register were at 27 Westgate Road, Bury St.Edmunds (2 closed entries).


Handley Page Halifax Mk3 MZ754 c/s MH-T took off 20:16 from RAF Snaith (EV Yorkshire) to attack Stuttgart (Zuffenhausen -home of Hirth engine factory). Load one 2,000 lb HE and 11 x No.14 clusters. Bombs released from 19,500 feet.Intense flak over target. Attacked by Me 109 and rear gunner killed by cannon fire. Navigator slightly wounded by flak, rest of crew uninjured. Aircraft landed at American airfield A-58 (Coulommiers-Voisins just east of Paris).
