1871 census...Aged 7, he was at Lamberts Row, Bury St.Edmunds with his step-father Talbot TRUGGET [23] jurney,man maltster born Barton; his mother Julia (now TRUGGETT) [27] born Hargrave;aunt Rebecca SEELY [21] born Hargrave; half brother Frederick TRUGGET [7 days] born Bury St.edmunds

1881 census...Aged 16, using TRUGGET name, a labourer, he was at 23 Chalkland, Bury St edmunds with his stepfather; mother; sister Elizabeth [14] born Westley (using TRUGGET name); brother ? James [12], half brothers Frederick [10], Alexander[7] and Walter [3] and half sister Catherne [5] all born in Bury St.Edmunds

He married Ellen PULFER in 1890 in Bury St.Edmunds.

1891 census...Aged 26, a domestic groom, he was at 34 Chalkland, Bury St.Edmunds with his wife Ellen [20] born Norton.

1901 census...Aged 36, a steam engine fitter, married, he was boarding at 153 Montague Road, Smethwick with William and Caroline Badger.

1911 census...Aged 44, a groom, he was at 14 Mill Road, and 1 Willow Cottages, Bury St.Edmunds with his wife Ellen; sons Donald [14] and William [4]; daughters Mandi [9], Dorothy [2] and Edith [1]. All the children were born in Bury St.Edmunds. Ellen had borne 7 children but one had died.

Ellen died in 1912 and his eldest daughter, Miss May Ethel FOREMAN [1894] became guardian to the children, Maude Julia [24-4-1902], William Walter [13-9-1906], Dorothy Ellen [7-6-1908], Edith Margaret [2-1-1910] and Rosina Beatrice [13-12-1911]


Enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds on 9th January 1882, reporting for Royal Artillery, having served in te Suffolk Militia. A farm labourer, born Bury St Edmunds, he gave his age as 19 years 1 month. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed 122 lbs, chest 35.5 inches, Church of England, blue eyed dark brown hair.
He served at home 7/2/1903 to 21/8/1903; Malta 22/8/1903 to 28/6/1904; South Africa 29/6/1904 to 29/7/1905 and home 30/7/1905 to 2/8/1905. Discharge in 1905 due to reduction in Army establishment in South Africa. In 1905 his next of kin was wife, Mrs E Foreman, 56 Risbygate Street, Bury St.Edmunds

In WW1 he was serving in the National Reserve Guard and was a groom/gardener at the Suffolk Regiment Depot. He died from heart disease, pulmonary congestion at West Suffolk General Hospital. (bronchitis on another document)
