Harry FROST
Aged 42, Killed by enemy action on Saturday 1st April 1916 at 74 Mill Road


Harry FROST was born in 1872 (Qtr 1 1873 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:563), son of George and Elizabeth FROST (née MILLER). His mother died in 1872

1881 census...Aged 8, he was at 21 Mill Lane, BSE with his widower father 44] a miller, his widowed grandmother Susan FROST[79]; sister Louisa [17] born Ixworth, brother George [15] miller's apprentice born Beyton.

His father re-married, to Gislingham born Matilda GROVES in 1888, in Bury St.Edmunds

1891 census...Aged 18, an apprentice ?, he was at 74 Mill Lane, BSE with his father (Stationary Engine driver) and step mother Matilda [54]

In 1899 Harry married Florence Emily BARNARD in Bury St.Edmunds.

1901 census...Aged 28, an iron turner/fitter, he was at 55 Cemetery Road with his wife Florence [24] and their son George [1 month]and vistor Gordon Wadkey and servant Mary Whelham.

1911 census...Aged 38, an iron turner, he was at 55 Cemetery Road with is wife; son George, daughters Eileen[5] and Vera [3], and boarder Florence TURNER.
His father and stepmother were at 74 Mill Road. His father died in 1911 and his stepmother in 1913, so it appears Harry had moved his family to his late parent's house just before the war.




Harry was at No 74 Mill Road, and was in the grden to see what all the noise was about when the bomb hit.

Harry is buried in Bury St.Edmunds, Compartmet 70, grave 165
with his wife Florence who died in 1976, aged 99
