Born in 1895 (1st qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:825) son of (née ELMER)

1901 census...Aged 6, he was at 16 Victoria Place, Bury St.Edmunds with his father William GOODCHILD [35] bricklayer's labourer; his mother Jane [32]; brother William [9] and sister Ellen [3]. All were born in Bury St.Edmunds. His 12 years old sister Daisy has not been found.

1911 census...Aged 16, a grocer's errand boy, he was at 35 Eastgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his parents; brothers Willam and George [9]; sisters Daisy [22] and Ethel [3]


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
He is recorded also as 9th Battalion, which presumable wheen he was wounded, and he was posted to Depot when evcuated to UK
Nothing has been found to say where or when he was wounded. He died in King George Hospital, London SE.
