Born in 1889 (qtr 1 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:716) son of Harry and Rebecca GUTTERIDGE (née DRANE). CWGC have his age wrong

1891 census...Aged 2, he was at 12 College Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father James Henry GUTTERIDGE [25]labourer; his mother Rebecca [2]; brother Harry DRANE [4] and Bertie [5 weeks]. All were born in Bury St.Edmunds

1901 census...Aged 12, he was at 12 Raingate Street, Bury St.edm ds with his parents (father a fish hawker, mother a monthly nurse); brother Harry (farm labourer) and Bertie; sisters Rebecca [9], Ada [7], Marjorie [5], Lily [3] and Maude [9 months].

1911 census...Aged 25 [sic], he was a Private in the 4th Worcestershire Regiment in India. At 12 Raingate Street, Bury St.Edmunds were his parents; sisters Rebecca, Lily, Maude, Gladys [8] and brother John [6].


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
With no sevice record available and dying of his wounds, it cannot be said where or when he was wounded.
