Born 1st June 1910 at 2 Crane Court, Bury St.Edmunds (3rd qtr 1910 4a:926), son of Frederick William and Kate Elizabeth HARROLD (née PROCTOR) of 29 Cullum Road, Bury St.Edmunds.
He married May THEOBALD [15-6-1914] in 1934 and they lived at 116 Horringer Road, Bury St.Edmunds, he was a barman/wine/spirits cellarman. His widow married Arthur WOOLLARD in Bury St.Edmunds in 1947.

1911 census...Aged 6 moths, he was at 2 Crane Court, Eastgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Frederick HARROLD [31] carpenter; his mother Katie [31]; sister Annie [11]; brothers Frederick [10] and Ernest [5]. All were born in Bury St.Edmunds.


Avro Lancaster Mk 1 W4819 c/s KM-G took off from RAF Waddington at 1818 hrs detailed to attack targets in Koln. Aircraft collided with a 102 Squadron Halifax W7882 DY-P at Luyksgestel (Noord Brabant) Netherlands, 20 km SSW of Eindhoven. Both aircraft had been hit by flak, this aircraft having been hit at 20.50hrs by 1.and 4./S.ABT,665 and 1./S.ABT591 and exploded in the air after colliding W7882. The wreckage from the Lancaster fell on Luyksgestel, the Halifax also exploded in mid-air and the wreckage fell on Hamont.
The crew of KM-G were :- pilot - Sgt Ronald HORDON (RAFVR); Engineer - Sgt Ian Craig TRAILL (RAFVR); Navigator - Sgt Philip Bernard COPP (RAFVR); Air Bombr - Sgt Lisle COX (RAFVR); WOP/Air Gunner - Sgt Edward Charles LAWRENCE (RCAF); Air Gunr - Sgt Frank CHECKETTS (RAFVR); Air Gunr - Sgt Edward George HARROLD (RAFVR).
