Born on 13th December 1892 in Bury St.Edmunds (1st qtr 4a:769) son of Arthur Henry and Fanny HUNT (née MAYS)

1901 census...Aged 9, he was at 38 Whiting Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Arthur H HUNT [42] blacksmith; his mother Fanny [44] born Felsham; brothers Victor J [13], Oscar G E [11], Cecil A S [4] and Arthur R C [2]; sisters Rose E M [17]and Elva G E [7]. All except his mother were born in Bury St.Edmunds.

1911 census...Aged 19, labourer,he was at 41 Southgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his parents; sisters Norah Ida Annie [25] mother's help and Elva Gladys Eliza [17] housemaid; brothers Oscar George Edgar (blacksmith's striker), Cecil Arthur Stanley (page boy), Arthur Rupert Cyril [12] and Hugh Ivan Godfrey [7].

He married Daisy WELCH in St. Mary's, Bury St.Edmunds 25th September 1915. later of 73 Northgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds. Their daughter, Gwendoline Lilian May was born on 23/5/1918.


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds and died in the Military Hospital there, from influenza.

He attested in Bury St.Edmunds on 6th December 1915, placed in Reserves and mobilised on 7th April 1916. He gave his date of birth, address 105 Southgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds, a laundry engineer, having served 2 and a half years in the 3rd Bn Sherwood Foresters. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall, chest 35 to 38 inches, weighed 140 lbs, Church of England, next of kin, his wife Daisy. .
He spent some time with 30th Training Reserve Battalion, transferred to the 4th East Surrey in December 1917 and the East Surrey Depot in December 1918. He was apparently classified as B 2, which would explain his not serving overseas, serving at Dover and Felixstowe.
When Daisy completed Army Form 5080 in 1920 she entered herself and daughter, Alexander's parents at 41 Southgate Street with Hugh Hunt [17] Ida [32] and Gladys [24]. There were other living full blood siblings but she did not enter them.
