Born in 1887 (3rd qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:700)son of Walter George and Catherine Last KING (née PATTLE)

1891 census...Aged 4, he was at 14 Meat Market with his father Walter George KING [38]Brush manufacturer born Birmingham; his mother Catherine Last [30]; sister Mabel Catherine [6]. All except his father were born in Bury St.Edmunds.

1901 census...Aged 14, he was a pupil at the Society of Friends School in Ackworth, nr Pontefract with his sister Olive Mary. His father (m) was at 1 Traverse, Bury St Edmunds with his brother Norman Wright [5]. His mother was visiting Mary Ann NORMAN at 117 Grange Road, Ilford.

1911 census...Aged 24, an chemist shop assistant, he was at 17 Bull Street, Birmingham.His parents were at 1 the Traverse with his sister Olive Mary [21]


The 8th R.Berkshire were in the line at La Guinguette Farm, on the Cerizy to Moy-de-l'Aisne road when the Kaiserschlacht began on 21st March 1918.despite valiant efforts they were over-run, being forced to retire via Ly Fontaine and Remigny to Frieres-Faillouel.
42 were killed that day, none has an identified grave.
