PALMER, Ronald Edward

No.CH/X 106357, Marine, Ronald Edward PALMER
Aged 21

Royal Marines
Died on Thursday, 18th November 1943

Born in 1922 (3rd qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:1654), son of Frederick George and Isla Ruby Mary PALMER (née ROSE).
He married Kathleen Phyllis BEAN in 1942 in Watford.

So far nothing else found, but Ronald is buried with 2 other Marines, Norman HERON of Shiremoor, Northumberland, and Hubert Evans of Comberbach, Cheshire so it there may be information via them.br> CWGC have Hubert and Norman as with Royal Marine Group, MNBDO 2..This does not help as the MNBDO were a nebulous outfit about which less seems to be known than Bletchley. Suffice it to say that the general impression to be given is a Base Defence Organisation. As they are all three buried in a collective grave the implication is that whatever happened, it destroyed all three of them. Since there is little recorded about the existence of this unit,it is highly unlikely that this incidence is recorded in the public domain. It was two months after the landings on mainland Italy.
