Walter PAMMENT was born in 1880 (2nd qtr 1880 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:608) son of Charles and Jane PAMMENT (née LINSEY)



1881 census...Aged 1, he was at 23 Northgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Charles PAMMENT [32]railway fireman born Denston; his mother Jane (recorded here as John) [29] born Cherry Hinton; brothers George [8], Herbert [4]Fred [3] and Harry [2]; sisters Florence [7] and Rose [7 weeks]. All the children were born in Bury St.Edmunds

1891 census...Aged 11, he was at 9 Out Northgate, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Charles Edwin, now railway engine driver; his mother ; brothers George Edwin, draper's porter, Herbert Arthur, butcher's porter, Frederick William, a butcher's porter, Harry Charles, John William [8] and Sidney Frank [1]; sisters Florence Kate and Emma Jane [4]. Also there was Charles Edwin PAMMENT, his grandfather [63] retired railway worker born Aldgate, London. Sister Rose Jane died in 1882.

His family were at 91 Springfield Road, Bury St.Edmunds in the 1901 census.


He died whilst bathing at Middleburg .. His Queens South Africa medal has claps for Belfast, Defence of Ladysmith and Laings Nek




Walter Pamment is commemorated on the Cornhill Memorial, Bury St.Edmunds.
