Born in 1898 (4th qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:827) son of Herbert lloyd and Caroline Elizabeth PASHLER (néeTHEOBALD)

1901 census...Aged 2, he was at 43 Northgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Herbert L.PASHLER [29] a baker; his mother Caroline E [29]; brothers Herbert W [5] and Oliver Charles [7 months]. All were born in Bury St.Edmunds.

1911 census...Aged 12, he was at 12 Schoolhall Lane, Bury St.Edmunds with his parents; brothers Herbert (clerk) and Oliver; sisters Evelyn [6] and Edna [2]; visitor Walter THEOBALD [30].


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He served in Gallipoli in the 5th Battalion but on return to UK was discharged due to being under age. He was mobilised on reaching 18 years of age, in the 2nd/5th battalion and posted to the BEF in the 7th Battalion in December 1917. in the 7th battalion.
The 7th battalion was at Acheux when they received orders to amalgamate with the 1/1st Cambridgeshires and then spent their last tour of duty in the trenches from 11th to 17th May before becoming a cadre unit and then later being affiliated to the American Army to give them instruction. The Battalion had 5 men killed on the 17th May and one the next day, probably the last of the battalion to die in action.
