Born in 1895 (3rd qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:800) son of James Alfred and Mary (née BARRETT)

1901 census...Aged 5, he was at 5 Angel Hill, Bury St.Edmunds with his father James Alfred ROBINSON [34] builder born Bury St.Edmunds and his mother Mary [33] born Fakemnham, Norfolk.

1911 census...Aged 15, he was at 41 Well Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his parents.


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.

Just south of the Menin Road, and west of Gheluvelt is a slight ridge known as Tower Hamlet and there was a German stronghold, JOIST REDOUBT. These were the objectives for the Cambridgeshires. They were taken and held during the 26th to 28th September, in conjunction with 13th Sussex and Black Watch.
Cecil was found by pill box forming part of the Redoubt, (date not legible) identified by a disc with 6743 Artists Rifles.
