Born in 1889 (1st qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:711) son of George and Dinah SCOTT (née FOREMAN)

1891 census...Aged 2, he was at 25 College Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father George SCOTT [37] grocer's assistant; his mother Dinah [31]. All were born in Bury St.Edmunds

1901 census...Aged 12, he was at 36 St.Andrews Street North,Bury St.Edmunds with his parents and brother Herbert [8].

His father died in 1906.

1911 census...Aged 22, a baker, he was still at 36 St.Andrews Street North with his widowed mother.

He married May Elizabeth GAME [14-9-18921] in 1915, later of 36 St Andrews Street North, Bury St.Edmunds. Their son, Robert George SCOTT was born on 20-6-1916.


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.

War Diary :-
15th HINGES Sector..12:30 am Wounded from "Y" and "Z" Coys report all well. Prisoners from 3st R.I.R. commence to come through.
2:30 am 2ndLt Bailey, Intelligence Officer reports that enemy still hold some trenches between "Y" and "Z" Coys otherwise everything all right, in touch on right and left.
6:55am Message received timed 5:47 that "W" had reached the whole of their objectives and was in touch with "Z" Coy
8 am All quiet.Very little retaliation throughout . What there was, was on the canal bank and round the orchard.
Casualties 1 officer killed, 5 wounded, OR 11 killed and 77 wounded.
