Born in 1890 (4th qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:652) most likely the son of Emma SMITH from Badwell Ash. Her sister Harriett married David COBBOLD and they raised Sidney Robert. Emma married John GOOCH in 1891.

1901 census...Aged 10, he was at 81 Eastgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his uncle David COBBOLD [45] timber carter's labourer, born Bury St.Edmunds; and his aunt Harriett [40] born Badwell Ash

1911 census...Aged 20, a farm labourer, he was still at 81 Eastgate Street with his uncle and aunt ( who were childless).


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.

According to the pension card he was killed by enemy aircraft.
