1891 census...Aged [9] he was at 3 Clay Cottages, Eastgate, Bury St.Edmunds with his grandparents Robert and Mary A BIRD (born Felsham; his father William SNAZELL [37] maltster's labourer; his mother Mary A [34] both born Bury St.Edmunds; sisters Florence [13] born Newbrington, Derby and Edith M [11] born Bury St.Edmunds; brothers Cecil A [6], William J [3] and James W [1]. All the boys were born in Bury St.Edmunds. 1901 census...Aged 19 a labourer in cork factory, he was a lodger at 123 Angel Road, Edmonton. At 3 Shakers Lane, Bury St.Edmunds were his parents; sisters Florecne, Edith, Ellen [8], Lily [4] and Verier [1]; brothers Cecil A (chemist's porter) and William (fishmonger's porter.) He married Edmonton born Alice CARTER of 69 Angel Road, Edmonton in St James Church, Edmonton on 25th December 1901. 1911 census...Aged 29 a labourer, he was at 69 Angel Road, Edmonton with his wife Alice [27] and children George William [17-6-1902], James Joseph [27-8-1905, Alfred Cecil [16-11-1908], John [2] and William [5 months] A daughter, Mary Elizabeth was born on 8-3-1913. Alice died on 2nd June 1917 and his mother Mary Ann became to children's guardian ( 4 under 16). In 1919 he was living at 18 Mustow Street, Bury St.Edmunds. He enlisted in Mill Hill on 18th November 1914, giving his age as 33 years on 4th August 1914, a married labourer living at 69 Angel Road, Edmonton . He was 5 feet
7.5 inches tall, chest 40 to 42 inches. He died from Phthisis and Hemiplegia on 18th December 1920 and qualified for a pension for his four orphaned children. No documentation has been found to link his cause of death to his military service, so CWGC will not recognise him.
