1901 census...Aged 2, he was at 5 St John's Street,Bury St.Edmunds with his father Walter SNEEZUM [34] jeweller/optician born Copdock; his mother Tryphena Adeline {37]; brother Harold Edward [7]; sisters Florence M [6], Marion Olive [5] and Eleanor W [4] 1911 census...Aged 12, he was at 67 Whiting Street with his aunt Charlotte E Newdick [61] single, born Bury St.Edmunds; his sister Eleanor W. His parents, sister Olive and brothers Stanley [9] and Wesley [7] were at 5 St John's Street still. |

He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. On 24th October the 61st Division attacked over the River Ecaillon and within 2 hours the 11th Suffolks had taken their objectives, capturing 110 prisoners. Soon however, the Brigade on their left having been held up outside Vendegies, the enemy counter attacked the leading companies from the left flank, leading to them having to form a defensive flank and touch was not regained with the left until evening. The Germans, under pressure, withdrew from Vendegies during the night. CWGC records 37 killed, all bar 3 being buried in Vendegies Cross Roads cemetery.
