Short Stirling Mk 3, EF453 c/s EX-F of 199 Squadron took off from RAF Lakenheath at 16:00 on 4th November 1943 on a night raid to lay mines ("gardening") in
the Kattegat and was lost without trace. The crew were pilot - P/Off D F Moore, Flt Engineer - Sgt V.J.Soutgate, Navigstor - Sgt A Richmond, O Obs/Bomb A - Sgt W Jones, WOP/AG - F/Off D C Welch. Air Gunr - F/Sgt D Menere, Air Gunr - F/Sgt P Watson.
