Born in 2nd qtr 1914 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:1796, son of ? TAYLOR. His mother could have been either Elizabeth or Caroline, daughters of James and Charlotte

His grandparents were Bury St.Edmunds born James and Charlotte TAYLOR, James was a chimney sweep. They lived at 58 Northgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds.

The newspaper report states that Gerald had been in the RAF for nearly ten years, in which case he must have been an apprentice.


Three Bristol Blenheim Mk4 of 114 Squadron left RAF Wyton at 11:00 on a daylight reconnaissance mission over Heligoland. The pilot of the only one to return (F/O Newberry in N8162) reported that 100 miles from Heligoland they encountered cloud at 6,000 feet and descended until they were flying at 100 feet in mist. When he was carrying pout a right turn, he saw a flash on his port side, where the other two aircraft were reckoned to be. They were never seen again
Blenheim N6150 was one, the other was N6145, with P/O B.A.Martyr, Sgt G.H.B. Taylor and AC Barker.
