1901 census...Aged 3, he was at 26 Long Brackland with his parents (father now maltster's labourer); sisters Ellen, Edith [9], Hetty [6] and Sarah [1]; brother Charles (labourer) and Robert "Arthur" [12] 1911 census...Aged 13, hardwareman's assistant, he was at 20 Long Brackland with his parents, brothers Charles (labourer), Arthur (maltster's labourer) and William [6]; sisters Edith, Hettie, Sarah and Alice [8]; Grandmother Eliza TAYLOR [77] born Norton. He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. In June 1919,Army Form 5080 for his brother Arthur has living relatives as parents at 52 Northgate Street with William [14], sister Edith Edna [27], Sarah ]1901 and Alice Mary[17] Brother Charles Frederick [35] was at 80 Cannon Street, Bury St.Edmunds, sister Hettie STIFF [25] was at North Camp, Aldershot. His service record not being found, and dying of wounds, it is impossible to state where or when he was wounded.
