Born Charles Frederick WALES 1st qtr 1920 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:2269, son of George Thomas and Maud Florence WALES (née LONG) of 38 Long Brackland, Bury St.Edmunds. His father was a hay cutter.


Presumed to have been captured on 15th February 1942 at the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese, his PoW card has not been found. He died of cholera.
