Born in 3rd qtr 1883 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:613, son of Charles and Esther WHITING(née CORNISH)

1891 census...Aged 7, he was at 7 High Baxter Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father harles WHITING [45] picture frame ,maker; his mother Esther [42] born Stanningfield; brothers Herbert [10], Harry [9] and Edgar [1]. All except his mother were born in Bury St.Edmunds.

His father died in 1895

1901 census...Aged 17, an ostler/groom, he was at 18 College Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his widowed mother Esther (carpet needlewoman) ; brothers Harry (paperhanger) and Edgar

1911 census...Aged 27, house painter, he was at 22 College Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his mother and brother Harry (coach painter)

The pension card has his mother at 22 College Street, Bury St.Edmunds. His brother Herbert E WHITING was married and was at 8 Oxford Road, Snakes Lane, Woodford Green


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.

Dying of wounds and no service record found, it is impossible to say where or when he was wounded
