His parents were at 53 Cliff Parade, Cliff |Road, New Hunstanton. 1911 census...Aged 42, manager of a picture house, he was at 10 Risbygate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his parents, father [66] born Romford, an apartment house keeper; his mother 64, born Bury St.Edmunds, had lost two of her 3 children. His picture house business was not a success and later in 1911 there was a legal conflict regarding bouncing cheques which resulted in a 3 months prison sentence, despite his parents having paid all the monies |

He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds on 22nd August 1914, giving his age as 40 (sic), born Lambeth, single, a clerk, having served previously. until 1912 in RAMC.
he was 5 feet 8.5 inches tall chest 37 to 40 inches, weighing 183 lbs. gey eyes, brown hair. Next of kin, father William Henry WOOLNER, of 10 Risbygate Street, Bury St.Edmunds. Posted to RAMC 22-8-1014, promoted Corporal 8-1-1915 and Sergeant 20-2-1915. To Salonika on 9th January 1917. On Staff of Director of Medical Services HQ Salonika and died of Malaria at 64 General Hospital, Akbunar. His personal belongings, returned to his father, were Photographs, calendar, match box with chain attached, letters, 2 pairs of glasses, crucifix, 2 identity discs AF B2056, AF D426, AF b2077, medal ribbon,sketches, postcards and purse. Army Form 5080 has just his parents as living blood relatives. By September 1917 the Army had established his age as 49.
