Arthur Claude PASK was born in Rede ((3rd qtr 1886 Thingoe 4a:673) son of Charles and Georgianna PASK (née KEMP). The actual places of birth seem to be "flexible" but boundaries with neighbouring villages are never the same in the view of all the natives.

1891 census...Aged 4, he was at Bury Road Cottages, Chedburgh with his father Charles PASK [30] farm labourer bron Depden; his mother Georgianna [30] born Chedburgh; brothers Herbert George [6] born Rede, Walter [3] born Rede and Benjamin Alan [7 months] born Chedburgh.

1901 census...Aged 14, farm labourer, he was "by The Green", Depden with his parents (father now recorded as born Chedburgh); brothers Herbert George and Chas Walter both farm labourers, and Benjamin, now recorded as born Rede.

He married Susan MURFITT [30-10-1892] in 1910 later of Tower House, Cambridge Road, Ely

1911 census...Aged 24, a blacksmith, he was boarding, with his wife Susan[20] born Littleport and son George [10 months] born Prickwillow, with his wife's MURFITT family at Prickwillow. His parents had moved to Rede.

On the pension card his widow was at Ely Road, Prickwillow with their four sons, George Alfred [15-5-1910], Walter Claud [28-8-1911], Cecil [10-10-1912] and Albert Ernest [25-3-1916]

His brother Charles Walter died of influenza in December 1918 in France see here


He enlisted in Ely.
With no service record found, and dying of wounds in a casualty clearing station, it is impossible to say exactly when or where he was wounded.

Arthur is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium 4:D:46A
and commemorated on the Rede war memorial.
