Ernest Edward Game was born in Cockfield ( 2nd qtr 1889 Cosford 4a:704), son of John and Rose Ellen GAME (née FIRMAN).

1891 census...Aged 1, he was at The Abbey, Cockfield with his father John GAME [27] farm labourer born Cockfield and his mother Rose E [25] born Rattlesden.

1901 census...Aged 11, he was at The Abbey, with his parents and brother Raymond G [9] born Cockfield.

1911 census...Aged 21, a miller's assistant, he was at The Abbey, with his parents (father now a farmer); brothers Raymond George (farm labourer) and Leslie John [5]; sister Margery Rose [5].

Abbey Farmhouse is not the current building on Bury Road.

The pension card has his mother at The Abbey, Cockfield.



He enlisted in Bury St. Edmunds. He died at No.9 C.C.S (Contay) from pneumonia. Without his service records it is impossible to say where he was, or when he was taken ill. The battalion, since Christmas 1916, had been at Neuilly l'Hopital and went to the Albert sector at Aveluy on 15th January
