Arthur Poulson was born in Cross Green, Cockfield (4th qtr 1884 Cosford 4a:646), son of Robert and Sarah POULSON (née ANDREWS).

1891 census...Aged 6, He was at Cross Green, Cockfield with his father Robert POULSON [45] farm labourer, born Preston, Suffolk; his mother Sarah [49] and his sister Elizabeth [15] both born Cockfield.

1901 census...Aged 16, a coal carter, he was at Cross Green, Cockfield with his parents and his sister Elizabeth and niece May Louisa POULSON [2] born Cockfield.

1911 census...Aged 25, a corn miller's carter, he was at Cross Green, Cockfield with his parents, his sister Elizabeth, niece May; nephews Bertie [8] and Claude [4] POULSON, both born in Semer Workhouse.

The pension card has his mother at Bury Road, Cockfield.





He enlisted in Sudbury. Not having his Army service records, and him dying of wounds, it is not possible to say where he was or when he was wounded. His battalion had recently been fighting in the Romeries area.
