Richard Alderton was born in 1922 (4th qtr 1922 Norwich 4b:244) son of Spencer C and Elsie ALDERTON (née BERRY)

CWGC gives his parents address as Conyers Green Suffolk which is the part of Great Barton the other side of the B1106. His father had been a staff officer of the Inland Revenue, retiring due to ill health. In the 1939 register both his parents and sister Aubrey were at Conyers Green, Great Barton (one closed record)



He was killed in a flying accident near Piarco, Trinidad on a ferry flight with No. 45 (Atlantic Transport) Group, part of RAF Ferry Command.
Martin Baltimore, Mk 111A, FA137, crashed during landing at Piarco, Trinidad, also killing wireless operator W.O. Charles Bake, only the navigator surviving.
